Ocean Beach is part of the
Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It lies on the west coast of San Francisco and extends from the
Cliff House at the North end of the beach to
Fort Funston at the South end of the beach. The Great Highway runs alongside the beach. There is abundant parking from Fulton Street to Lincoln Way, across from Golden Gate Park and a secondary parking lot with bathrooms at Sloat Boulevard.
Ocean Beach is a wide beach and has good waves for surfing and good winds for flying kites or playing Frisbee. The weather at Ocean Beach is often cool and foggy.
