Long Description:

[ENG] Extract from the text presented on the orientation table, briefly recounting the history of Allan.
The orientation table presents the ramparts of the medieval city and indicates the location of some buildings: the wall north, dungeon, tower of the church and the southern gate.

"The wall that you see surrounds the remains of a village built over the centuries on the site of a Gallic oppidum.
In the 12th century, Adhémar lords of Montelimar, built on the site a feudal castle, soon surrounded by houses which formed an important fortified village, very active until the late Middle Ages.
Then the population gradually abandoned the harsh living conditions to live more comfortably in the plain.
The last inhabitants left the village in 1905, killing all reusable materials (beams, tiles, stones ...) which accelerated the deterioration of buildings. "
