Built in 1880, this one building looks like three. Each of the bays contained its own store, differentiated by a Victorian facade, most noticeable in the molding above each bay’s doors and upper windows.

During the last quarter of the 19th century, retail establishments lined Main Street from Congress to Texas Avenues. Most of the storefronts were like this one, with High Victorian classical detail. This building, along with the Sweeney, Coombs & Fredericks Building and the Brashear Building, is one of the last remaining Victorians in the district.
