The marker is located at the edge of a former pineapple field about 300 feet SSW of Lino Pl in Pukalani along Old Haleakala Highway. It is embedded in the ruins of a former water tank, with the foundation ring showing a date of 1958. It is about 5 feet NW from a standpipe/water meter arrangement, 2 feet from a pipe in a ground. The ladder mentioned in the datasheet is no longer there, as the tank structure was demolished. I believe the two upright pipes seen in one of the photos was part of the ladder assembly. There is a standpipe as noted, but CITY STANDPIPE mentioned in the description appears to be Private and not Municipal. A surveyors marking on the side of the road, a nail with a 4 with a line under it marked in white, almost "points" to a small pathway to the standpipe and the ring. The standpipe and the ring is heavily obscured from the road by brush and grass.

I am certain that the 2011 recovery by GPS Hawaii possibly put them a good several hundred feet West of the marker (hence the note OPEN FIELD) location if they went by the datasheet coordinates. The coordinates I have for the marker are N 20° 49.901 W 156° 19.955
