Besides a listing with the
Paluxy Baptist Association, the church has virtually no Internet presence beyond web-spidered directory listings. The Allison community itself bears the name of Willis Allison, who came here with his family from Missouri just after the Civil War, and he is buried just up the road in Evergreen Cemetery. Today, this is a quiet rural community, with a few scattered residences, a business or two, and this church and its adjoining cemetery (with graves dating to 1865). The old Allison school is no longer with us.
A notable and sad headstone in the cemetery belongs to James Monroe Ownbey and his family, which included wife, Lillie, a son, Johnnie, and a baby. Neither child lived past the age of two, and the 1918 death year for the parents, within just months of each other, was most likely a product of the influenza epidemic that was raging at the time, still a subject for discussion today. Mr. Ownbey also died on his birthday. The headstone is of gray granite, and it reads:
James Monroe Ownbey
Dec. 18, 1883 - Dec. 18, 1918

Lillie V. His Wife
