This bronze plaque stands in front of a hut that was once used by the Boy Scouts here, and it reads:
Boy Scout Troop 60
J.D. Harrison Memorial Park
This park is dedicated to the memory of J.D. Harrison of Strawn, Texas, for his many years devoted to the development of character of the young people of Strawn.
J.D. served as scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop No. 60 from 1970 until his death, and his memory lives today in the hearts of those he served.
J.D. spent many days and his own money escorting Scouts and other youth on camping trips, visiting every state in the United States, and parts of Canada.
J.D. lived in Strawn from 1959 until his death on December 21, 1988. His wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren still reside in Strawn.

Note that Mrs. Harrison has since passed on, as has their daughter, Dortha, and her husband, Buddy Talley. They are buried just down the road at historic Mount Marion Cemetery.
