"The Lord Lieutenant Mrs Claire Hensman officiated at the dedication ceremony and said a few fitting words to mark the official unveiling of the Jubilee Stone. This initiative from Jim Morphet of our Club was chosen as a tribute to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The semi circle of seats near the main lakeside pier were in need of repair which at Jim's instigation SLDC undertook to a high standard. Rotary provided most of the funds and Gordon Greaves made the slate commemoration plaque which has been set within a circle of slate cobbles in a long lasting and attractive design.
