This is a cylindrical water tank which is located on S. Skinner Avenue, just south of 2nd Street, at the northwest corner of the Drumright High School football stadium. It is painted white with a wide red stripe at the top and bottom and the words "Home of Drumright Tornadoes".

Does it seem like an unusual name for the team? Well, not to Drumright citizens. Located in a very high risk area for tornadic activity, there have been more than 178 tornadoes within 30 miles of Drumright, since 1950. The two tornadoes which hit closest and did the most damage were on April 2, 1956 when a tornado killed 5 people and injured 68 in Drumright, and the worst, on June 8, 1974 when much of the town was damaged, and 14 people lost their lives. A total of 150 people were injured on that day.

So this water tower not only recognizes the high school team, but reminds the folks in Drumright of the terrible loss of life and property caused by tornadoes in and near their town.
