[ENG] The Maria Magdalenen Church in Malente is the church in the parish of Malente in the district of Ostholstein in Schleswig-Holstein. It is located in the centre of the village surrounded by the (former) Kirchanger. It is the oldest building in Malente and is used today by the Protestant-Lutheran parish of Malente for church services.
The church was built in the 13th century as a result of the Battle of Bornhöved in 1227, in which Count Adolf IV is said to have asked Mary Magdalene for help in prayer. After the victory, he donated churches, among other things - to which the construction of the church, which took place in the early Gothic style, is attributed. Due to the building material chosen, the Church of Mary Magdalene is one of the fieldstone churches typical of eastern Holstein.
Today's church was essentially built in two phases: While the church building dates back to the 13th century, the tower was completed in 1893 and built in the neo-Gothic style. The nave was slightly extended on the west side.
Date the Church was built, dedicated or cornerstone laid: 01/01/1228
