This is a beautiful mosaic on the front wall of St. Mary Catholic Church.

St. Mary Catholic Church is located at 321 S. Cimarron Avenue on the west side of town. The mosaic is recessed slightly into a brick wall and is ten feet square. It shows Mary holding the baby Jesus. Her eyes are looking heavenward.
The colors are soft. Mary's cloak is blue and she has a brown head scarf. The baby is dressed in yellow. We were fascinated as we stepped closer to the mosaic to see that there is a distance at which the mosaic just becomes an arrangement of random tiles, and it is no longer possible to see the picture with the naked eye. However, even close-up, the camera can "see" what the eye cannot. It's amazing to think how a mosaic is created and how someone knows how to place those tiles so the distance effect is perfect.
