It is becoming more common these days to see barbecue joints in North Texas that give you the real Texas barbecue experience, as you order at the pit and have your food wrapped up for you before you find a place to sit. There is no plate barbecue available: You can see what they have just by looking into the pit, although there are menus overhead. For those who are doing take-out, they have a separate entrance with a menu where you can make your choices before going in to place your order.

They have an extensive menu, with all meats available by the pound or fraction thereof. You can choose from brisket (chopped/sliced), half a chicken, turkey, sausage (regular and hot), beef and pork ribs, ribeye, and pork (pulled/chopped). A few of these are available as sandwiches, as are baked potatoes (loaded or plain). As with any good barbecue joint, arrive early to get the best stuff.

Once you've made your selection, the pitmaster will pull your food and send you through the door into the dining area, where the kind folks will help you with your sides. They have a nice selection, and the beans are complimentary. For those who like sauce on their barbecue, they have a sauce bar where you can pick from several different sauces. Soft drinks and iced tea are available, and they have a bar and a good selection of craft beers. There is a lot of seating, and it's only difficult to find a place when large groups are visiting. The service is outstanding.

There are a few places on the wall to plug in your gadgets, but you're probably not going to sit here with a laptop for a few hours.
