Bangkok is a city of canals. Over these canals are, of course, bridges. In central Bangkok, the older section of the city, many of these bridges date back decades and even centuries. This canal bridge dates back to AD 1909 (2452 in the Buddhist calendar).

There are identical inscriptions on both sides of the road, facing out into the road, at the centre of the bridge. The text is in the Thai script, the year is the four curvaceous characters at the bottom right of the inscription. A busy part of the city.
