NRHP Nomination Form

The Sherman U.S. Post Office and Courthouse, built in 1906-1907, is an attractive, three-story (plus basement), limestone clad structure. Designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect for the U.S. Treasury Department under the direction of Supervising Architect James Knox Taylor, its Renaissance Revival design is a significant exanple of early twentieth-century federal architecture. This style is revealed in the building's ornate, arched entry with Doric surround; arched first floor windows; low-pitched, hipped, clay tile roof; ornamental eave brackets; and second-story window balustrades
