 < "A church already existed in Bayenghem in the 12th century, and from its Romanesque origins it kept the base of its tower.
The church of Bayenghem-lès-Seninghem has a tower rebuilt in the sixteenth century on an old Romanesque base, but the place of worship was largely rebuilt between 1859 and 1863.
In the north-east wall is embedded a bas relief of painted alabaster, from the end of the 16th century, having served as an altarpiece, and representing the scene of the ordeal animated by many characters.
The oak pulpit also dates from the end of the 16th century and is worn by a pelican as a pedestal. Its bowl is carved with a tabernacle guarded by two angels.
There was a seigniorial vault under the choir, where were buried six members of the family of Bernastre between 1693 and 1755. It was moved under the altar Saint-Nicolas during the rebuilding of the church in the nineteenth.

Others are promises - € 125,000 from the Region, 40% from the Department. In summary, 80% of the total cost would be subsidized, 20% to be borne by the municipality.

L'église de Bayenghem-lès-Seninghem possède une tour rebâtie au XVIe siècle sur une ancienne base romane, mais le lieu de culte fut largement reconstruit entre 1859 et 1863.
Dans le mur Nord-Est est encastré un bas-relief en albâtre peint, de la fin du XVIe siècle, ayant servi de retable, et représentant la scène du calvaire animée de nombreux personnages.
La chaire en chêne date aussi de la fin du XVIe, elle est portée par un pélican en guise de piédestal. Sa cuve est sculptée d'un tabernacle gardé par deux anges.
Il existait un caveau seigneurial sous le chœur, où furent inhumés six membres de la famille de Bernastre entre 1693 et 1755. Il a été déplacé sous l'autel Saint-Nicolas lors de la reconstruction de l'église au XIXe."

Redonner à l’édifice son lustre d’antan, c’est l’objectif que s’est fixé l’architecte Angélique Thomas, dans son étude. De son exposé, il ressort que trois phases de travaux seront menées, dont la première, en deux temps, concerne la tour puis la balustrade et la flèche. Les premiers échafaudages sont prévus fin 2016 avec poursuite vers le clocher, dans la foulée en 2017.

À l’appel du maire, une douzaine d’amoureux du patrimoine se sont engagés et, le 25 avril, le bureau sera constitué. Grâce à cette souscription, les fidèles de l’église Saint-Martin espèrent lui rendre son éclat. "
