The Hartshorne water tank is located on Peoria Avenue, two blocks north of the main highway (Pennsylvania Ave.).

The municipal water tank is painted white and has the name of the high school team, the Hartshorne Miners. A logo of a crossed Pick and Shovel are also shown. Hartshorne was established in 1850 as a coal mining town.

The water tank is supported by four steel pipes and stands in a block-long grass field north of the downtown area.
