This washhouse was built in 1928 and it is in 2012 that young volunteers of Concordia (a non-profit association, born in 1950 following the Second World War of a willingness of young English, German and French to revive the values of tolerance and peace through international volunteer sites) are renovating it.

Ce lavoir a été construit en 1928 et c'est en 2012 que des jeunes bénévoles de Concordia (une association à but non lucratif, née en 1950 suite à la Seconde Guerre Mondiale d'une volonté de jeunes anglais, allemands et français de faire renaître les valeurs de tolérance, de paix à travers des chantiers internationaux de bénévoles) le rénovent.

 "Les volontaires pour le chantier de rénovation du lavoir de Terrelabouët, dont la convention de réparation avait été signée le 5 mai, sont arrivés mardi 10 juillet en fin d'après midi. Le jeudi, ils ont attaqué le chantier. Venant d'horizons différents, Ahra et Chulkyu (Corée), Ludovic, Ophélie et Timothée (France), Inna (Russie), Ezgi et Ilkyaz (Turquie), Filip (République Tchèque) et leurs animateurs Allain et Lisa ont commencé le travail de désherbage des murs qui, en fin de matinée, était déjà bien avancé.
« Organisés par l'association Concordia, ce sont 54 projets en France réalisés par 780 volontaires du monde qui débutent cette semaine sur un chantier international de bénévoles animés par l'envie d'agir utilement et la volonté de se rencontrer », rappelle leur coordinateur. Les chantiers internationaux cherchent à développer le « vivre ensemble » dans un esprit de partage et de solidarité. Les journées s'organisent autour de temps de travail sur le projet collectif et de temps de rencontres et de loisirs : visites culturelles, échanges avec la population locale, activités ludiques...
Au-delà de l'intérêt du travail collectif réalisé, les chantiers sont une occasion rare d'échanger, de découvrir d'autres cultures, de travailler ensemble pour le bien commun et de vivre ensemble avec des personnes venues des quatre coins du monde."
