William Howard's WOW marker is not a tree stump. The pillar stands on two bases, with the surname HOWARD engraved on the upper base. At the top of the pillar is one horizontal log.

The seal is located on the inscription panel, along with a depiction of heaven's gates. The inscription reads:

William N.
Howard
Jan. 29, 1857
Jan. 25, 1918

To angel from thy spirit grown,
thy God hath claimed him for his own
