The freight depot stands on Port Huron's waterfront, near the intersection of Court and Griswold Streets. It was built sometime in the early part of the 20th century by the Pere Marquette Railroad to handle freight traffic in the area. The Pere Marquette was absorbed by the Chesapeake and Ohio in 1947, however operations continued here until the 1960's.

The station stood vacant until the early part of the 21st century, when the waterfront area experienced a renaissance. The tracks have long since been removed, and the building refurbished and modernized, but the old Bascule bridge and its short track section speak of the station's heritage.

The building is now privately owned.
