Stokesay Castle was built in 1931 as a honeymoon gift from George Heister, a member of a very prominent Reading family, to his new wife. The castle was modeled on the original Stokesay Castle in Shropshire, England. Mrs. Heister, however, was not impressed in spite of all of the little details that went into its construction. The family used the "castle" as a vacation spot until it was sold in 1956 and converted into a fine dining restaurant.

This door is the main entrance to the castle.
