On the southwest corner of W. 6th Avenue and S. Husband Street in front of the Payne County Courthouse, this monument commemorates the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah building on April 19, 1995.
Mounted on a large rock on the lawn, a plaque reads:
The Commemorative Tree I stand proudly on this courthouse lawn. I was planted with loving care. As a symbol of compassion, the whole world seems to share. For all the ones who were injured, For all who lost their lives, Those who by God's loving grace Managed to survive. For the many rescue workers, Not knowing what might be their fate, For the help of the ordinary citizens, And the good samaritans from other states. So as I stand in this place of honor On Payne County's courthouse lawn, As I grow, my arms reach to heaven, And to the ones already gone. Millie R. Pace In commemoration of 4-19-95 bombing of Alfred P. Murrah Building, Okla. City
