Het opvallendste gedeelte van het Romeinse aquaduct, gekend als de Beukenberg, werd reeds in 1945 gedeeltelijk beschermd als landschap. Een ander aanzienlijk deel (ongeveer twee derde) van het gekende en nog bewaarde tracé ligt eveneens niet binnen de perimeter van deze bescherming, en strekt zich uit van het Hoogveld in het zuiden tot de steenweg Tongeren - Sint-Truiden in het noorden. Het volledige tracé werd opgenomen in de afbakening van de archeologische bescherming

La partie la plus frappante de l'aqueduc romain, connu sous le nom de Beukenberg, a été partiellement protégée en tant que paysage en 1945. Une autre partie substantielle (environ les deux tiers) de l'itinéraire connu et encore préservé n'entre pas non plus dans le cadre de cette protection et s'étend du Hoogveld au sud à la route de pierre Tongres - Sint-Truiden au nord.
