This sculpture at Hafer Park's Duck Pond honors Clifford Henderson, a man who enjoyed coming to the park to clear his head. The bench faces away from the pond, so visitors can pose for a photo with the pond behind them. Two bronze ducks sit near one of the bench legs, and Clifford's wife Iris says the ducks are just like her and Clifford, always cuddling close like lovebirds. A fedora is sculpted into the back of the bench, showing where Cliff placed his hat when sitting on a park bench.

The sculpture dedication was a surprise to Iris, when the family gathered at a Hafer Park pavilion for what would have been Cliff's 90th birthday.

Sanctuary is such a touching memorial to a man loved by many. Sit on the bench and imagine yourself in Clifford's shoes: coming to the park to relax, and sitting on the bench watching the ducks and families enjoying the park that he said "was alive."
