Striking statue of Leavander Johnson, an Atlantic City native, who was the International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organization Lightweight (132 lbs)World Champion. He had a career record of 34 wins, 5 losses, 2 draws and 26 knockouts.

Tragically, he passed away in 2005 at age 36, following an unsuccessful title defence. He collapsed after the bout and was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma from which he failed to recover. He passed away 22 September 22, 2005.

The statue was unveiled 4 June, 2011 here in City Center Park. It is by renowned sculptor Brian Hanlon. The life-size bronze is affixed to a plinth of polished dark stone. The inscription reads:
