Both Columbus and Zippy express their regrets. Columbus regrets not exploring farther north and discovering Hoboken, NJ. Zippy would also have wished to veer farther north, into New England, but not to Rhode Island.
The statue of Columbus was created by Armand Battelli and dedicated on October 12, 1928. It was donated by to the City of New London by the Italian-American community.
