This dunking crane was used to punish bakers whose bread was too light. Dishonest bakers were dipped into the well in the Market Place.

The dunking crane is one of the exhibits at Mittelalterliches Kriminalmuseum / Medieval Crime and Justice Museum in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The crane is visible from street level without having to pay admission.
