While a tree stump headstone is generally placed by the Woodmen of the World or one of their auxiliaries, this is not a Woodmen of the World marker. It was also common practice, often with children, to utilize a tree stump to indicate that someone died young, cut down in the prime of their life. There are no dates for Irene Hall, but it is possible that she was the one who was short-lived, as her husband, Grover Cleveland Hall, lived into his seventies. An obituary from a daughter on Findagrave confirms that this couple were husband and wife, which is otherwise not suggested on the headstone.

On the front is a scroll with the family name, "Hall", and on the plinth is "Irene Hall". On the reverse plinth is "G.C. 'Hop' Hall 1888-1960". The tree stump has a hanging branch, and some leaves are evident -- note the split at the top that Mother Nature has created -- and the Dove of Peace perches atop the scroll.
