The old school is next to St Andrew's Church, in the centre of Coniston. It has been adapted to provide bunk house sleeping and catering, with communal rooms for large visiting groups. It has a Christian foundation, but is used by a wide variety of groups to enjoy staying in the area.
The original building has been extended in a similar style to existing fabric and interior altered for compliance with modern regulations. Most of Coniston is built and faced from local blue slate and roofed with local slate. Not sure when it closed, but it has been used since 1970s as accommodation base. There are people in the village who remember going to this school.
