"Certaines caractéristiques de Saint-Georges de Larzicourt s’expliquent par la proximité de la Lorraine et ses diverses appartenances : dès 991, elle relève de l’abbaye du Der (diocèse de Troyes), puis elle devient paroisse du diocèse de Châlons et en même temps son prieuré dépend de Saint-Léon-de-Toul.
Elle a été bâtie en deux styles distincts : à l'origine en architecture romane puis en gothique flamboyante.
La galerie porche en bois du 16e siècle abrite le portail roman de l’église Saint Georges dont les chapiteaux des colonnes d’ébrasement sont très joliment et abondamment décorés d’entrelacs entre lesquels apparaissent des têtes humaine.
L’oculus qui surplombe ce porche est lui décoré en bâtons brisés. Le chœur et le double transept (2 travées) sont du 16e mais la nef présente une belle unité romane de la fin du 12e siècle.
Les travées de la nef sont séparées par des grandes arcades qui reposent sur des supports alternativement rectangulaires et carrés. Les impostes de ces piliers sont très finement décorées de motifs végétaux, de fruits, de palmettes et de nœuds.
Un joli bandeau sculpté court entre les grandes arcades des fenêtres hautes."

The spans of the nave are separated by large arches resting on alternately rectangular and square supports. The transoms of these pillars are very finely decorated with plants, fruits, palmettes and knots.
A pretty carved headband runs between the large arcades of the high windows. "
