QE0644 - OSHD 'W 156' BM - Corvallis, OR - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this Oregon State Highway Department benchmark from 1941 in good condition. It is a brass disk monumented on top of a concrete sidewalk and located at the NE corner of Marys River Bridge which spans Marys River. My posted coordinates should place you very close to this mark.

IN THE SOUTH PART OF CORVALLIS, ON U.S. HIGHWAY 99 W, AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE MAIN SPAN OF THE HIGHWAY BRIDGE OVER MARY RIVER, 30 FEET SOUTH OF THE EXTREME NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE BRIDGE, AT THE BASE OF THE RAIL, AND IN TOP OF THE EAST EDGE OF THE CONCRETE WALK.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1987 RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION, A NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS. 1.2 KM (0.75 MI) SOUTH ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 99W FROM ITS JUNCTION WITH U.S. HIGHWAY 20 IN CORVALLIS, IN THE NORTH END OF THE EAST WALKWAY OF THE NORTHBOUND LANES BRIDGE SPANNING THE MARYS RIVER, 11.6 M (38.1 FT) SOUTH OF THE NORTH END OF THE WALKWAY, 6.0 M (19.7 FT) EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE NORTHBOUND LANES OF THE HIGHWAY, AND 0.1 M (0.3 FT) WEST OF THE EAST GUARDRAIL. NOTE--NOT LEVELED THIS SURVEY, AND THE DISK IS STAMPED AS ABOVE. THE MARK IS 0.2 M ABOVE THE HIGHWAY.
