Die Stadt: Die Große Kreisstadt Plauen ist ein Oberzentrum im Südwesten des Freistaates Sachsen und die Kreisstadt des Vogtlandkreises und hat aktuell rund 66000 Einwohner.

Das Schmuckstück Plauens und gleichzeitig das Wahrzeichen der Stadt ist das Alte Rathaus mit seinem wunderschönen Renaissancegiebel von 1548.
Das Rathaus wurde 1382 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Die Kunstuhr von 1548 ist eine Meisterleistung der Uhrmacherzunft. Zwischen den Löwen, welche die Viertelstunde anschlagen, zeigt eine Kugel die Mondphasen. Beim Stundenschlag bewegt die linke Figur den Stab, die rechte den Bart. Den Abschluss bildet die Sonnenuhr aus dem Jahre 1784.
In den Jahren 1912-1923 wurde das Neue Rathaus mit dem 64 m hohen Turm angebaut. Wer sein Fitnesstraining absolviert und die 230 Stufen bis zur Aussichtsplattform überwunden hat, dem bietet sich ein wunderschöner Blick über die Stadt bis weit ins Vogtland hinein.
Der neu gestaltete Altmarkt mit dem König-Albert-Brunnen und Sitzgelegenheiten ist Stätte verschiedener Märkte, Stadtfeste und Veranstaltungen.

The jewel of Plauen and at the same time the landmark of the city is the Old Town Hall with its beautiful Renaissance gable from 1548.
The town hall was first mentioned in documents in 1382. The art clock of 1548 is a masterpiece of the watchmaker's guild. Between the lions, who strike the quarter of an hour, a bullet shows the phases of the moon. At the stroke of the hour the left figure moves the staff, the right the beard. The conclusion is the sundial from the year 1784.
In the years 1912-1923, the New Town Hall with the 64 m high tower was added. If you have completed your fitness training and have overcome the 230 steps to the viewing platform, you have a wonderful view over the city far into the Vogtland.
The redesigned Altmarkt with the King Albert Fountain and seating is the site of various markets, city festivals and events.
