This concrete tunnel is approximately 3 ft. high and 12 ft. wide. The east and west openings of the culverts are not directly across from each other; the east opening is slightly south of the west opening. The water which runs through this culvert has washed a great deal of sandy soil into the opening, and on the east side, a large tree trunk has washed down to the opening. It can be clearly seen that forms for the concrete were made with wide wood boards.

The culverts along Hiwassee Road north of this one were constructed in 1936; however, this shield shows 1937 so these culvert projects lasted a long time and brought much needed employment to the local men.
