[EN] "Looking up the meter-high side of the ship, waving goodbye from the gangway, the journey begins. For more than seven million people who emigrated to the New World via Bremerhaven between 1830 and 1974, this was the moment of departure; for visitors to the German Emigrant House, it was the first stages of the exciting journey through 300 years of German migration history.
The award-winning experience museum tells the moving stories of the emigrants. Visitors experience the moment of farewell at the quay, the crossing of the Atlantic and the arrival in the New World. The tour then takes visitors back to Germany. In a shopping arcade from 1973, they discover the real fates of immigrants, from the Huguenots and guest workers to Syrian civil war refugees.

After the tour, visitors can search for emigrated ancestors themselves in the family search.
The German Emigration Centre is the first museum to present Germany's immigration and emigration history. Special exhibitions and events deepen the topic. During the school holidays, the museum also offers an extensive programme for children and families."
