The Spokane Convention Center became a bookcrossing zone on Saturday, January 10, 2009 with the release of the first book at the centre, The Barefoot Princess (Lost Princesses, Book 2) by Christina Dodd. Since that time sixteen more books have been released at various points in the centre, the most recent being Bandits, by Elmore Leonard, released on Sunday, February 19, 2012.

The 100,160 square foot elliptically shaped facility was completed in June, 2006, well ahead of schedule. It is capable of accommodating thousands of people simultaneously. The centre features excellent physical surroundings, equipment, support and services for Conventions, Trade Shows, Consumer Shows, Seminars, Banquets and Sporting Events. It is capable of hosting both indoor and outdoor functions.
