Forest Hill is older than the Republic of Texas, dating to the 1830s, and initially, there was a log union church here. By 1872, the Methodists had constructed their own sanctuary on this site, and the church's Facebook page notes 1952 as the year the current sanctuary was built. Interestingly, while their mailing address indicates "Honey Grove" -- 8.5 miles away -- they are closer to Petty, which is nearly 4.5 miles away. This is a fairly remote part of Lamar County.
