FR Le seigneur Fouquet d'Agoult, baron de Sault, chambellan du roi René d'Anjou, comte de Provence, décide de créer une réserve d'eau pour le château de La Tour d'Aigues et fait construire un aqueduc au XVe siècle. L'étang de la Bonde, ainsi constitué fut le point d'alimentation d'un réseau d'irrigation qui alimentait toute la vallée d'Aigues contribuant à l'expansion de l'agriculture.
Aujourd'hui, le Mirail sort toujours de la mine pour être canalisés en sous-sol jusqu'au hameau Belle Etoile (entre la Motte d'Aigues et Saint Martin de la Brasque)
A partir de là le Mirail est en surface et va courir sur un peu moins de 4 km pour alimenter l'étang de la bonde, haut lieu du tourisme de Cabrières d'Aigues et du Luberon
Cet étang, le plus grand plan d'eau du Luberon accueille, dès que les beaux jours arrivent, des baigneurs mais on peut y pratiquer le canoë, la pêche, le pédalo et tous les jeux de plage habituels. La pratique de la planche à voile est possible mais il faut savoir que le plan d'eau est abrité du vent dominant (Mistral NO) par une colline au nord du plan d'eau (absence de location).
Traditionnellement, les riverains viennent y pique-niquer le week-end en famille à l'ombre des arbres bordant la plage ouest. D'importants travaux d'abattage et d'élagage le long des rives jouxtant le camping ont été entrepris et redonnent à cette plage des zones ensoleillées jusqu'au soir.
La pratique du naturisme est autorisée sur la rive est. Ce lieu assez couru au début des années 2000 a vu sa fréquentation disparaître à cause de plusieurs aménagements le long de la rive de l'étang, mais a tendance à retrouver une population de naturistes locaux et provenant du camping voisin depuis 2010.
EN The lord Fouquet of Agoult, baron of Sault, chamberlain of the king René d'Anjou, count of Provence, decides to create a water reserve for the castle of the Tower of Aigues and makes build an aqueduct in the 15th century. The pond of the Bonde, thus constituted was the point of supply of an irrigation network which fed the whole valley of Aigues contributing to the expansion of agriculture.
Today, the Mirail always comes out of the mine to be channeled in the basement to the hamlet Belle Etoile (between the Motte d'Aigues and Saint Martin de la Brasque)
From there the Mirail is on the surface and will run on a little less than 4 km to feed the pond of the bonde, high place of tourism Cabrières d'Aigues and Luberon
This pond, the largest body of water in the Luberon welcomes, as soon as the sunny days arrive, bathers but you can practice canoeing, fishing, pedalo and all the usual beach games. The practice of windsurfing is possible but you should know that the water is sheltered from the prevailing wind (Mistral NO) by a hill north of the body of water (no rental).
Traditionally, residents come here for a picnic on a family weekend in the shade of the trees along the west beach. Significant slaughter and pruning along the shoreline adjacent to the campsite have been undertaken and restore the beach to sunny areas until evening.
The practice of naturism is allowed on the east bank. This fairly popular place in the early 2000s saw its attendance disappear because of several developments along the shore of the pond, but tends to find a population of local naturists and from the neighboring campsite since 2010.
