Just south of the Katoomba Subway store is an aluminium Historical Sign, for the nearby Carrington Hotel

As the following text affirms, this is #4 of Historical Signs from the Blue Mountains Historical Society. It is at the driveway entrance to the iconic Carrington Hotel. The raised, cast wording of this sign reads:

| 	 CARRINGTON HOTEL	    |
| The first hotel built in Katoomba |
|for the accommodation of tourists. |
|Building commenced in 1880 and was |
| named the "Western Star Hotel".   |
|      The name was changed to	    |
|  the "Carrington" in honor of	    |
| 	 Lord Carrington,	    |
| who visited the hotel in 1886.    |
