FR La fontaine édifiée en 1667 fut décorée par le sculpteur J.Claude Rambot. Elle est un authentique témoignage de l’Art Baroque et du style italien. Située dans le quartier Mazarin, au centre d’une Place dont elle complète merveilleusement l’harmonie, cette fontaine fut achevée en 1667 et on lui donna d’abord le nom de St Michel en l’honneur du Cardinal. 4 dauphins à gueules grimaçantes crachant de l’eau, soutiennent un petit obélisque dont le sommet fut orné successivement par une fleur de Lys, une croix de Malte et une pomme de pin.
EN The fountain built in 1667 was decorated by the sculptor J.Claude Rambot. It is an authentic testimony of Baroque Art and Italian style. Located in the Mazarin district, in the center of a square whose harmony it perfectly completes, this fountain was completed in 1667 and it was first given the name of St Michel in honor of the Cardinal. 4 grinning dolphins spitting water, support a small obelisk whose summit was adorned successively by a fleur-de-lis, a Maltese cross and a pine cone.
