The ornamental wrought iron gates for the Douglas Town Hall on Ridgeway Street and bear the date 1899 in black within gold rectangles.

The gates are in the ornate door case of the building and are closed when the Town Hall is not open to the public.

Details of the Town Hall building which was openned on 10th May 1900 which is a year later than that displayed on the ornamental gates in the door case and the Municipal Building plaque displayed on the front of the building.

Mr Ardron F.R.I.B.A was the architect who designed this building and the main building contractor was Messrs. Gradwell and Co. of Barrow in Furness.
