FR En faisant le tour de la ville par les boulevards extérieurs, le cours Saint Louis nous amène à la place Bellegarde.

La fontaine est bâtie sur une petite esplanade et on la quitte par des escaliers conduisant vers le quartier Mignet.

Comme la fontaine Saint Louis, sa construction fut décidée en 1632, puis bâtie, déplacée, remaniée et installée sur son emplacement actuel en 1849.

Avant de mourir, François Marius Granet, né à Aix, venait de léguer à la ville une importante collection de tableaux. En reconnaissance, la ville commanda à Hippolyte Ferrat un buste de l'artiste, à placer sur la colonne romaine de la fontaine. Ce support antique à connotation historique rappelle un des lieux de séjour et de travail préféré de Granet. Certes, l'on distingue peu les traits du visage, mais orienté vers la ville, c'est une invitation à se rendre au musée.

Le monument fait preuve d'une grande élégance de par ses quatre canons qui laissent couler l'eau symétriquement dans la vasque géométrique à deux niveaux et la colonne, prise des vestiges romains du IVe et Ve siècle, semble chercher à détrôner les arbres avec comme capitaine, Granet en son sommet.
EN While going around the city by the external boulevards, the course Saint Louis brings us to the place Bellegarde.

The fountain is built on a small esplanade and is left by stairs leading to the district Mignet.

Like the Saint Louis fountain, its construction was decided in 1632, then built, moved, remodeled and installed on its current location in 1849.

Before dying, François Marius Granet, born in Aix, had just bequeathed to the city an important collection of paintings. In recognition, the city ordered Hippolyte Ferrat a bust of the artist, to place on the Roman column of the fountain. This antique support with historical connotations is reminiscent of one of Granet's favorite places to stay and work. Certainly, there are few facial features, but oriented towards the city, it is an invitation to visit the museum.

The monument shows great elegance with its four guns that let the water flow symmetrically into the two-level geometric basin and the column, taken from the Roman vestiges of the fourth and fifth century, seems to seek to dethrone the trees with captain, Granet at the top.
