The plaque says, "We the people of Orange dedicate this plaque to the spirit of the Olympic torch run efforts of the American people. Just as the torchbearers had been created by many along the way from its origination in New York City, it was created by a cheering crowd when passing through this city circle on July 26, 1984. The torch run ended in the Los Angeles Coliseum as the beginning of the Olympic Games two days later. Let this historic event be an example of what determination, persistence and unity can accomplish with the effort of many working toward a common goal."
