This sign in honor of Gale Moss was placed by the Kansas Turnpike Authority at the Matfield Green KTA Service Area, Towanda KS, and reads as follows:
"GALE MOSS
Gail Moss, El Dorado, was connected to the Kansas Turnpike from the original planning to the financing, construction, and initial operation. The idea of the toll road in Kansas was conceived in a meeting of the highway Council of the Kansas State Chamber of Commerce, mid-October, 1951. Mr. Moss was the state highway director from May 20, 1953, through October 19, 1954. He was KTA Chairman from June 8, 1953 to October 19, 1954. He also served as KTA General Manager from October 19, 1954, to February 10, 1961."
