The plaque says, "The regional enterprise tower was built in 1950 as the corporate headquarters of Alcoa, the world's leading producer of aluminum and aluminum products. In 1998, Alcoa gave the building to the southwestern Pennsylvania Corporation to showcase the region's assets and promote regional development. The regional enterprise tower houses non-profit, public, and private organizations dedicated to the economic, cultural, and educational advancement of southwestern Pennsylvania"
