To get to this beach, you could either take a small watercraft (all41 and I used an inflatable kayak last time), or walk. It is located behind and below the Campfire stage, and then down the left (away from the main part of camp) until you reach a sandy beach.
It looks like originally, there was a reinforced trail to the beach from the nature cabin, but it's falling down the hill now. When we first went down, you had to go straight down the hill, hanging onto a chain to keep from falling. Now, you can go down behind the right side of the stage, and there's a switchback trail with climbing rope set up like handrails to hold onto.
In 1991, I started attending our local college. I was only 16, because I had been homeschooled for the past few years, and had decided to get my GED and just go ahead with college.
One of my classes (the very best one) was choir, and that's where I met All41. He insists that it was love at first sight. :-D I find it fascinating, I do believe that we know, our bodies and subconscious, when we meet the right person, whether that be romantically or as a friend. We can see the true person and be drawn to that right away.
To make a long story short, and cut out all the middle and later part (perhaps I'll write that later when I have the energy, or maybe I'll write it in my blog finally and post a link in here to it), almost a year later we ended up here, at Camp MiVoden, for family camp. All41 took me down to this private little beach on Hayden Lake. How beautiful, just at sunset. He got down on his knee and proposed. I remember we laughed and cried and hugged and sat on a log and talked for a while.
This place will always hold special meaning to me. Whenever I come here, for Women's Retreat, or Pathfinder Leadership Retreat with All41, or Family Camp, I (we) try and visit it.
All41 and I have been married since December 15, 1995. We live on our dream property in our favorite place in the world (after traveling extensively, we know that we're in the right place), we have two lovely children, a boy and a girl, we have lots of family here. There have been so many ways that God has blessed us through the years.
