Findagrave (see Website) notes that Julia E. Stuart was born Julia E. Macoy, so it appears she remarried after Mr. Potts died in 1856. This zinc monument has quite a bit of detail -- it can be difficult to see in the summer months, given the shade -- beginning with the family name, "Potts", on the front, four support columns, and an urn at the top. A wreath-decorated crown and cross are also on the front, and above it, the superimposed initials, W and P, for William Potts. The second side says "Willie" above crossed flags, rifle balls, powder horns, and a drum, and above that is a chain with a broken link. The third side has a wreath with funeral draping, and above them are the superimposed initials, J and S, for Julia Stuart. Side four features a sheaf of wheat, with an anchor above it. There is a medallion planted in the ground near the base, with the emblem of the Grand Army of the Republic on it. Also notable is "Detroit Bronze Co. Detroit Mich." on the back plinth.

Each family member has their own zinc footstone, and the one belonging to William F. Potts (the son) can be difficult to spot, obscured by a bush. They bear simple inscriptions:

William Potts

Born
Feb. 23, 1812,
Died Sept. 12, 1856.

Julia E. Stuart,
Born July 26, 1817,
Died Oct. 5, 1892.

William F. Potts
Born
July 10, 1849,
Died July 9, 1884.

William F. Potts would have been rather young to have been a soldier in the Grand Army of the Republic: The odds are pretty good he was a bugler or drummer.
