The Evangelical-Lutheran Nienstedtener church is the central church of the Hamburg district Nienstedten. It is located between Elbchaussee and Hasselmannstraße and thus only a few hundred meters as the crow flies from the banks of the Elbe. The church is a typical North German and very well preserved Baroque church with a worth seeing equipment.

The present building, to whose inauguration on 16 May 1751 Georg Philipp Telemann composed his cantata "Shattered the Idols" and conducted the performance itself, is the sixth church building since the first documentary mention of "Kerspel Nigenstede" (parish Nienstedten) in 1297 ,

The current equipment comes mainly from the construction time of the church, of which are worth mentioning the pulpit altar, as well as the stalls on the galleries with incised family names of the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, the church has a bronze font of the sculptor Ursula Querner from 1967. The altar was extensively renovated in 1994 and the baroque state largely restored.
