There are dozens of rockets, missiles, missile launchers, and other aircraft on static display outside of the Main Exhibit Building at the US Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL.

The waymarked Hawk Missile is located near the Apache Helicopter.

An interpretive sign reads as follows:

"US ARMY HAWK

The Hawk is a medium-range surface-to-air guided missile that provides air defense coverage against low to medium altitude aircraft. It is a mobile, all weather, day and night system. The Hawk is highly lethal, reliable and effective against electronic countermeasures.

Initially fielded in 1960, the system has since been retired. The Hawk was a mainstay with the U.S. Army for over 35 years.

Although the U.S. Army deployed Hawk missile batteries during conflicts in Vietnam and Southwest Asia, American troop batteries have never fired this weapon in combat.
