"The church at Baverstock is dedicated to St. Edith of Wilton, the illegitimate daughter of King Edgar. She died 16th September 984.
Situated on a slight rise surrounded with hills and wood it is a half mile from the manor house and farm, with the rectory and school nearby. The earliest part of the church, the chancel, is built in the decorated style in the 14th century, and the nave and tower are in the perpendicular style, built sometime between 1350 and 1530."
