Camel Cottage, a 17th century thatched cottage in Compton Chamberlayne. The name possibly comes from the distinctive shape of the roof. A bit difficult to photograph, as the hedges only just planted in the Google street view images have certainly grown well.

"Detached cottage. Mid to late C17. Dressed limestone, thatched
roof with coped verges and brick stacks. Gable end to road.
Single-storey and attic, 2 windows. C20 porch and steel casement
to left, 2-light wooden casement in blocked doorway and 3-light
recessed chamfered mullioned casement to right. Two eyebrow
dormers with C20 casements. Right return has 2-light mullioned
casement and projecting semi-circular bread oven to ground floor,
two 2-light C20 casements to attic floor. C20 extension to left
return not of special interest. Interior has chamfered beam with
jeweLled stops and open fireplace with cambered chamfered lintel on
stone jambs in room to south, middle room has chamfered beam with
stepped stops, stairs to rear. Originally a C17 one-cell cottage;
another cell added late C17 to south."
