"Der Name der Weinbergslage Röttgen kommt von roden und impliziert den besonderen Arbeitsaufwand bei der Erstellung des Erstweinbergs. Der ursprünglich blau-graue Schieferfelsen hat hier nach wenigen Jahren rostbraune Farbtöne. Sie entstehen durch Oxidation des im Gestein enthaltenen Eisen- und Mineralgehaltes. Es lässt sich daraus schließen, dass das Gestein unter anaeroben Bedingungen im Urmeer entstanden ist, und die Sedimente in Jahrmillionen zum Röttgenschiefer verbacken wurden.

Die Weine sind geprägt von feinfruchtigen Aromen, mineralisch verspielt und erinnern im Duft oft an weißen Pfirsich. Ihre Eleganz und feingliedrige Säurestruktur ist einzigartig. Besonders, wenn die Trauben des Röttgen von feinster Edelfäule geprägt sind, werden von dort große fruchtsüße und edelsüße Weine vinifiziert."
