"The new Romanesque chapel stands on the side of today's road to the Abbey Church, built in 1864 on the site of a medieval gateway, named after the Benedictine abbey in 1892. The Swiss roof of the church is attributed to Father Mauricius Gisler , a member of the Erzabtei Beuron, who had grown up in the canton of Uri and studied architecture.

Between 1980 and 1984 the chapel was redesigned. The profiling of the walls and the windows created Professor Georg Meistermann (1911-1990). The windows show Saint Christopher, John the Baptist, Benedict of Nursia and Hildegard of Bingen as well as the seven seals from the Secret Revelation. Three chandeliers and two holy water basins were built according to a model by Ewald Mataré († 1965); the Madonna created Karl Osemann. "
